(K-6) Music and Arts Backyard Summer Camp!

Sarah is ecstatic to be programming her third "SingPlayStudios"  Backyard summer camp in Brentwood, TN, for music and art loving students in grades k-6 from TUESDAY, May 30th to FRIDAY, June 2nd. 

The week will be led by seasoned K-12 musician/teacher and mom, Sarah Bonsignore, and middle school/high school art teacher and mom, Maryann McGinley, and will close with an outdoor art show and musical concert in downtown Franklin on the final night, as part of the "Franklin First" art crawl. Daily schedules and details will be confirmed closer to the time.

Students should bring a bagged lunch, snack and labeled water bottle, a notebook and pen, a three ring binder, an instrument if they want to play something other than piano/guitar/ukulele, and sunscreen. 

At SingPlayStudios we believe in providing quality arts education for all, and building a safe, supportive and loving community, one based in the global languages of music and the arts. We will provide small group lessons in beginner piano, singing/chorus, art, guitar/ukulele, movement, ear training, songwriting and improvization and music theory. No experience necessary, but an open mind and a collaborative attitude will go a long way! 

Sarah Bonsignore (SPS Director) is a South African born American musician, singer songwriter, composer, educator, sync artist and producer with a masters degree in music and 25+ years of classroom teaching experience. Her music has been heard on radio and TV throughout South Africa and the US, and she is passionate about making the world a better place through  the arts. Sarah is currently curating an amazingly talented group of educators and creatives to help make the backyard summer camp experience a magical one. 

The camp will be co-led by Maryann McGinley, Franklin artist, educator and mom with a masters in art education and a decade of teaching experience. 

The studio is located in the Carondelet area, North of Concord, just off Wilson Pike. Our address will be communicated after registration. 

 

 

Music Wings (grades 2-5)

This course is perfect for students (grades 2-5) who love to sing, perform, create and play music!

Classes will run for 75 minutes, and will fall on SUNDAYS from 3:00pm - 4:15pm on 9/3, 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15 and 10/29 will be our Halloween show/pizza party (Rehearsal 4pm and Porch Show 5pm-6pm warm weather dependent). 

In this course students will learn about ~

  • healthy vocal skills
  • age appropriate repertoire in unison, two and three part harmony
  • musicianship (hearing rhythm, intervals and harmony)
  • note reading and writing
  • playing close and open chords on piano, and accompanying on ukulele
  • developing confidence and performance skills
  • collaborating with others
  • developing a lifelong love of music 

Sarah Bonsignore (SPS Founder/Director) is a South African born American musician, singer songwriter, composer, educator, sync artist and producer with a masters degree in music and 25+ years of classroom teaching experience. Her music has been heard on radio and TV throughout South Africa and the US, and she is passionate about making the world a better place through the arts. She's also a mom of three boys at Lipscomb and Brentwood Middle, and teaches music part time to little at BYCS :)
